After a long two days of flying ✈�️ around for music travel, a lack of sleep, a crazy Hungarian, and LA traffic, I finally made it to see my good friend the incredible @keithmckelley performing with Filipina American jazz pianist and composer #DebbieTorres at @catalinajazzclub The band also featured @felixdkat11 @luisconte @bryanladdbass and @ashjangda . I even broke down and had dinner AND added Chocolate cake (pictured) and of course… Coffee. ☕️ #sundaynight #jazz #keithmckelley

As a Drummer first, I always enjoyed @zztop and their drummer the great Frank Beard, who incidentally was the only member without a beard. Sad news, that he has passed away today, leave now, the only surviving member of the original group @billyfgibbons My condolences to Franks’s family and to Billy. He was a master of the Texas shuffle for sure. Frank Lee Beard (June 11, 1949 – August 17, 2026) was an American drummer best known as the long-time drummer of the rock band ZZ Top. #rip #frankbeard

It starts out a little funny because I was simply trying to record myself singing, and ended up recording the whole group. This was one of the first times performing with the legendary @david.garfield during Christmas 🎄 at @westlakevillageinn at what was called #Bogies and now called @clublouies I was honored to work with other legendary artists like @steve_ferrone @tonypguitar @lillianadlr @robbie415 and #jimmyearl from @jimmykimmellive band. I was in Tarzana today at @peetscoffee so I decided to pop in and check out @normansrareguitars and pay homage to owner Norman William Harris who was a dear longtime friend of my former employer, the great @aspenpittmandesigns at @groovetubes_official and many don’t know but Norm is quite the songwriter, that we should all strive to be Ike as he has cowritten some of the best R& B songs with no other than the legendary @bobbycaldwelllegacy just like this one “Open Your Eyes” which later became one of the greatest Hiphop classics by @common called “The Light” so aside from all the incredible vintage guitars 🎸 he’s got tunes too! Look for a live performance in store later this year when my new project is finally finished. It features some incredible musicians like @ericvalentinela on Drums @billysteinway on Keys and some crazy guy who is featured on my first solo CD #ForeverPlan named @jaygoreguitar on Guitar In this clip, we are paying homage to the legendary @totothemselves and one of my favorite compositions written by the incredible @therealdavidpaich called “Georgy Porgy”. I was that kid who build @estesmodel and tore apart my Father’s transistor radio. 📻 That’s when I knew engineering was for me. Sometimes I have to remind myself of the fantastic opportunities and work I’ve been able to achieve. My time at @nasa was essential to my work in Music & TV. Both my Mother and Father were professionals who taught us, never stop, never quit, and don’t take no for an answer. This has been especially important coming back from my recent injury. Engineering’s a discipline that’s the same in Music 🎶 TV 📺 Film 🎞️ and Sports 🏈 and I’m blessed to look back on a life of wonder, amazement and gratitude for teachers, mentors and professionals who stood In harm’s way to allow me to use my gifts, and those who taught me never to be taken advantage of. Don’t stop, don’t quit, keep pushing. If I can do it, so can you. #livelongandprosper 🖖🏾 #throwback #thurday #tbt

Before I knew his name, I knew his sound — that unmistakable alto cutting through records by David Bowie, Stevie Wonder, James Taylor, Kenny Loggins, Carly Simon, Linda Ronstadt. He was my mother’s favorite jazz saxophonist, and long before I understood phrasing or composition, his solos were teaching me both.

I was lucky enough to become close with his son Jonathan while living in Boston — bandmates in two projects, She Said and Hi Fi Tie. Through Jon, I got to know Mr. Sanborn (I was raised to call my friends’ fathers “Mr.,” and even after years of friendship and backstage hangs in city after city, that’s what he stayed to me). He was the first person to congratulate me when I was featured on a Marcus Miller song in a Chris Rock film — and from there we swapped story after story about Marcus, who produced eight of his records.

He was endlessly gracious — to my kids, my ex-wife, whichever girlfriend I happened to bring along. And every conversation eventually turned to how much he loved his son, and later, to grandfather stories once Jon and Rosemary had their girls. He adored them.

His music, his sax, his laugh, that Leo spirit — I miss it every time his horn comes through a speaker, a soundtrack, or a tribute band doing their best to get close to what he had.

Like Bobby Brown used to say “Every little step I take” 🎶 is a celebration 🎉 of indie music success. It’s not the small amount that matters to me, it’s the fact that slowly my music is being played around the world. 🌍 Many thanks 🙏🏾 to @snschi and @stevesilkhurley for his brilliant idea to involve @djeddieamador @djskipchicago and @zonum.es to transform my ballad into an ongoing #housemusic anthem playing regularly at @nikkibeachibiza and other venues. #newmusic is coming soon. So…I saw @theodysseymovie last night, and the person you see in the doorway is @aajmusic who went with me. When you see a period piece film with an actual person from a culture that is very close to Greece 🇬🇷 like an Italian 🇮🇹 you get a fuller understanding of the culture and the region. Christopher Nolan knows how to create and epic story and the cinematography was overseen by a man I was honored to be able to watch work on @nopemovie the brilliant @hoyteisbae who is also a very kind man. All of the online racism and hate at this film 🎞️ is misplaced and idiotic and mostly from “conservatives” who don’t understand world history and just want to pretend Africans weren’t involved in that world when they were. @lupitanyongo was radiant as Helen of Troy and absolutely killed in her dual roll. Also from the first scene @elliotpage crushed all doubt of his brilliance as an actor and why he was chosen for his role. @matt_damon_official showed why he’s a star, and @coreyhawkins plays the bad guy to the hilt with a quality that is incredibly unmatched by in Hollywood, and of course @zendaya is as beautiful as the spirit of a woman who haunts Odysseus (in a good way) and of course I’ll go to see this in its native @imax #70mm just because after working on a set with one of their cameras I know it’s powerful capabilities thanks to many conversations with the incredible camera operator @theredroosta who shot #Nope Everyone needs to see this movie, it’s an event you should not miss. #theodyssey P.S. special thanks to @amctheatres Century City for their professionalism and hospitality.
